Case studies
Three HVAC jobs, with the problem and result documented.
Start with the result, then review the diagnosis, completed work, and measurements behind it.
Cedar Ridge · Airflow balancing + smart controls
Upstairs temperature gap reduced from 9°F to 2°F
Problem
The back bedrooms stayed nine degrees warmer than downstairs, even though the cooling equipment was working.
Diagnosis
Room-by-room readings and an attic inspection found two disconnected duct runs and poorly adjusted dampers.
Work completed
We reconnected and sealed the ducts, balanced airflow at each register, and installed a thermostat with a bedroom sensor.
Result
The upstairs now stays within two degrees of the downstairs setting, verified with readings in every room.

Fairview · Replacement
Heat restored the morning after a furnace failure
Problem
A 22-year-old furnace failed during a cold snap, leaving the home without safe heat.
Diagnosis
The heat exchanger had failed. Repairing that component on equipment of this age cost too much relative to replacement.
Work completed
We made the system safe, supplied temporary heat, calculated the home's heat load, and installed a correctly sized furnace the next morning.
Result
Heat returned by the following morning, with quieter starts and more even room temperatures.

Oak Hill · Right-sized new installation
A quieter system for a 1928 home
Problem
The existing system started loudly beside a bedroom and cycled too aggressively for the older home's smaller rooms.
Diagnosis
A load calculation showed the existing unit was oversized, while the duct layout amplified startup noise.
Work completed
We installed a smaller variable-speed system, pressure-tested new refrigerant lines, and rerouted condensate away from the original plaster.
Result
The new blower starts gradually, runs longer at lower speed, and maintains steadier temperatures with much less noise.
